Soil (not to be confused with the song of the same name) was a band that included future SOAD members Serj Tankian and Daron Malakian performing vocals/keyboards and vocals/lead guitar respectively, as well as bassist Dave Hakopyan and drummer Domingo Laranio. Future SOAD bassist Shavo Odadjian was first hired as their manager, but later upgraded to rhythm guitar. Laranio and Hakopyan later left the band feeling that it was not going anywhere, leading to Soil splitting up.
