Peephole is the tenth track on System of a Down's self-titled album. The lyrics were written by Serj Tankian, and the music by Daron Malakian. The song is considerably less thrash metal oriented than most of the other songs on the record, with the chorus being heavier, and the verses having a more polka oriented sound. The song's lyrics can be viewed as being about drug use, or arguing against it. This theme of drug use goes along with the footnote before the song lyrics:
"The February 18 edition of Britain's NEW SCIENTIST Magazine reports that the
Geneva-based World Health Organization suppressed, under political pressure,a report which confirmed that marijuana is safer than either alcohol or tobacco."
