Hypnotize is the fifth album by System of a Down and the second half of the Mezmerize/Hypnotize double album before taking their hiatus to work on their individual solo projects. It was released on November 22, 2005, six months after the release of companion album Mezmerize.

Around October 2004, Hypnotize was planned to be released on January 18th, 2005, just a few days before the Australian Tour of 2005. But had been rescheduled to March 1st, 2005, soon after Mezmerize got announced. In February of 2005, Hypnotize was rescheduled with the announced date of Mezmerize on September 27th, 2005. Finally in September 2005, it was scheduled for November 22nd, 2005.[1][2][3][4]
Reception[]
The album opened at #1 on the Billboard 200 with 320,000 copies on November 22, 2005. The album was certified gold and platinum by the RIAA on December 13, 2005.[5]

Trivia[]
- On the outro of the track "Lonely Day", the sound of a bomb dropping is heard. This sound is also heard multiple times in "Soldier Side" and at the outro of the song "Soldier Side - Intro" on their previous album "Mezmerize".
