Deftones is an American alternative metal band from Sacramento, California, founded in 1988. The band consists of Chino Moreno (lead vocals and guitar), Stephen Carpenter (guitar), Frank Delgado (keyboards and turntables), Abe Cunningham (drums and percussion) and Sergio Vega (bass). Deftones have released seven albums to date, with three Platinum (AdrenalineAround the FurWhite Pony) and one Gold certification (for Deftones).

Serj Tankian contributed additional vocals to the band's single "Mein" from their album Saturday Night Wrist. Recently, in an interview on Reddit.com, someone asked Serj Tankian about the song: "How did the collaboration with Deftones come by for the song "Mein"?"; Serj answered: "Chino asked and I obliged :) We´ve all been friends an toured together for many years".

In 2009, Daron, Shavo and John joined Moreno onstage to play covers of "Aerials" and "Toxicity", at a benefit gig for late Deftones bassist Chi Cheng, who had been involved in a car accident and was in a coma. Daron also joined in for the Deftones song "Headup" as well as a cover of Metallica's "Battery" at the same gig. In 2012, Moreno joined SOAD onstage for two live dates to sing "Suite-Pee" with the band. A few days later, Serj joined the Deftones on stage for their cover of "Suite-Pee".

On August 23 2014, Shavo uploaded a picture of an old Deftones concert flyer from the Adrenaline era where SOAD were the support band (link: http://instagram.com/p/sBhswbFwPa)
